Case Study 14

Tales of Suspense 39

This was one of a pair of TOS 39's we were honoured to work on for our customer. This one was the better conditioned of the two, although was hampered with a detached bottom staple and almost detached top staple. As you will be able to see, someone had previously used the 'Iron Man' title and main picture for drawing practice.

We were able to lift some of the graphite, although many areas were permanently scored where the sharp pencil scratched the surface and for the most part, we removed the indentations the pencil had created. We then proceeded to gently press the comic, being carful not to even breathe on the spine, just in case it disturbed the few fibres that kept the top staple 'attached'.
